Custom Christmas Angel Barbie Conversion

Well... I FINALLY got around to taking pictures... Just as soon as I get done posting this I have to get her wrapped and ready for shipping. Which I positively HAVE to get out to do tomorrow, I'm already cutting it damned close... The Doll... The base was a typical blonde barbie (the one with the extra long hair). The only repaint was her lip color, I didn't think that pinky pink would have worked too well with the color scheme I was going for. I curled her hair, and did the updoo... her dress will never ever come off, it's sewn in place. I'm not much of a seamstress, and design my dolls as more like figures to be 'as is' and not dolls to play with. (ie. changing their clothes) I even repainted her shoes to match. Her necklace and earrings are made from the extra beads left over from her waist thingy (the extra beads were also used in hand stitched beading around the neckline) and finally, I made her beautiful white wings... enjoy the pix...

'Carnivore'

Watercolor & Gouache on R114 Crescent Watercolor Board.

Facial Detail can be viewed [ here ]

This piece is more of a visual play on an old addage 'never bite the hand that feeds you'... Subconsciously, I think it has more to do with me. The bulk of my artwork sales are (or used to be) the Faery Fans.... I don't classify myself as a Faery Artist because, I have darker thoughts, and tend to let myself be lured into the darker recesses of my imagination... as in Sairina, Neglijare or even Angel, it's subtle, not directly in your face, kind of darkness. I may loose some fans or lookers because of what kind of art I really like to do. THIS kind of art is where my heart truely lies. Which is why I need to do more of this darker stuff...

No More Ebay... I refuse.

After a week of e-mailling ebay to try and get a negative feed back resolved. Basically the customer had no grounds to leave me a negative; Ebay calls this 'Retaliatitory Feedback'. She gave me the run around for 3 weeks promising to pay. She didn't read my terms, she was argumentive over paying with paypal (which she refused to do). She was slow to respond to any messages. I gave her a specific date to have the payment in to me, if I hadn't received it by that date, the item would be relisted, and sold. I also said, if her payment should come in I will refuse it, since it's been relisted. I gave her every opportunity, I was very courteous, and polite in every communication. She claimes I hounded her... I looked back at my messages she only received 6 messages from me in 3.5 weeks. I don't consider that hounding especially since I didn't e-mail her till 5 days after the auction closed and she was obviously the winner.

Anyway... I realize that Ebay cannot censor another users comments, but I have a problem with this; How can one leave true and accurate feedback for a buyer that has gone out of their way to screw up a transaction that would have other wise went smoothly if they would have only followed the rules. Where's the inncentive to leave accurate feed back when you have to worry about retaliatitory feedback, not only that but in the responses they start putting in are untrue statements making it seem like they're the victim. This compromises the integrity of the feedback forum for everyone.
Basically eBay wants nothing to do with regulating feedback or the integrity of the comments left. Is that a place you really want to sell your artwork at? Is that a place you want to run your business?

I've been finding that most people are rude, and want something for nothing. They have no idea what the real worth of art is. Most people think it should be given away or sold for far less. I have to tell you, I spend far too long on paintings to won't go for anymore than 50.00 on ebay. They don't just magically appear.

With that... I refuse to sell on ebay. (but... I will be doing some wearable art that will be sold directly thru: Psychodollie's Toy Box.)

Here are links where you may find my artwork: Gothic Auctions, Hometown Gallery, Art By Us.com, and ofcourse... directly from my website.

Ebay in the toilet again.

Well... it seems that ebay sales all around for artists in general have hit the toilet again. I know ebay is the worst possible place for an artist to try and sell their work. The joke about ebay among serious artists is that it's for bargin basement hunter. Which is why it's so hard for us to try and hack out a living there, even if it is only between exhibits and shows.

With that, since sales have been pathetically non-existant for the last 3 months. No more ebay artwork listings. I can't afford to dump money into ebay only to not sell a damned thing.

All prints sales can be found directly on my website. I have also started selling originals here: Home Town Gallery, granted they take a 30% cut, but it's better than selling work for dirt cheap on ebay when realistically it should sell for more.

With the events of this past weekend, not much really got done. 1 step forward 23 steps backwards...

1. Anything that was supposed to go out Satuday (Jane, Maya and Dar), hasn't gone out. the vehicle I was driving, the battery went and died. seriously dead. Tomorrow i'm hoping to have that replaced, and if all goes well, everything should be headed to the post office wednesday.

2. I had to reinstall windows, so... the only thing I have at the moment is... IE. (internet explorer) I can access my mail thru the web interface at comcast. so if anyone has any questions, you can contact me directly thru my website.

3. I have 3 new paintings done, but I have no way of scanning them or listing them on ebay. Hopefully by wednesday I'll have most of my programs reinstalled so I can get these little treasures listed.

As Jace always says 'Onward and Upward'.

Saturday... Ebay & Echo Reception #2

Echo: Don't forget tonight (November 5th, 2005) @ 8pm is Echo's 2nd Opening Reception. It's only ONE dollar to get in, and that goes to a very good cause. Unfortunately I will not be there, I have family stuff to attend to tonight. =( I'm guessing it's another costume event, since *Creative Attire is Encouraged*.

Ebay: I decided to switch my listing days, and length of time for my auctions - from 3days to 5 days, still ending on Thursday, so that items can be still shipped on Saturday afternoon. to view the listings, click [ here ]

On my print auctions: I am now offering free shipping to the US if you purchase two or more prints from my auctions.

Monday or Tuesday I should have pretties done for listing.

Opening Reception @ Echo

All in all it was fun, I was seriously nervous. Me being my usual worry-wart self kept imagining that my work got stuck in some back room where no one would see it. When we walked in I was surprised that it was right in the front!

I saw Christopher Shy's work (but, I think the work that's there is permanently.), Chad Wards work, and a few other's I recognized but now can't remember their names. >.< I just wish I would have known more people to have talked to them... I was really happy when Chad Savage arrived, he was so much fun. I'm really glad to finally have met him. Then to my surprise Sofie came in (Nigel's other half. ) then we ended up talking to quite a few people. =) =) I met Amul, the finger jewlery (aka metal talons) he had on were fantastic, I should have gotten a picture. >.< I just loved talking art with him, and Chad. I really really wish Chelle could have come in for this... it would have been great, since "Lily" was there, and was getting lots of comments. There are two more receptions/events I'm going to try to attend.

I was however disappointed that they completely forgot me on the post cards. =( I wasn't mentioned at all. so... I didn't take any... But. I am on the printable one from the internet. I guess I'll just go ahead and print those off, and send those out, I wish I would have known, then I could have sent them to Kasra, & Jane ahead of time. =(

My work on Display

Derek was snapping pictures like crazy, so look here for when they update the site with the Halloween Exhibition 10-29-2005.

9x12 Watercolor, Gouache, Metalic Gold Watercolor & White Acrylic on 140lb Montval Coldpress Watercolor paper. Took approx 9-10 hrs. >.< Far too long, but it turned out rather well. Which means I will not be selling it on Ebay.

a response from my Artwork Sales Entry

Why don't you get a regular job like the rest of us instead of begging people for their money? Will you take $2.00 for the Christmas Elf - I think my 5 year old daughter might like it.

Something's a miss in the land of Deviant Art.

Earlier I was looking thru today's daily deviations, and I've noticed that the people who pick the daily deviations are giving praise to people who don't draw their own work, but trace photographs and shade it in. Or take photographs of models or toys and recolor them in photoshop. Do a Photoshop Rendering of a photo off the internet or from a magazine, doing the rendering right over the photo, then deleting the photo. Or even taking a photo from the internet/magazine and only appling filters and claming to have drawn it.

I'm just so sick of it, ya know? When an artist that spends a lot of time actually drawing something, and shows real creativity, without tracing, without copying, goes unnoticed, while someone who's not putting forth as much effort gets all the praise is just beyond wrong. The wrong backs are being patted, where's the incentive to strive to do better when someone can just trace or copy and get the same kind of recognition?

Where's the originality? where the creativity? where's the effort? it's all missing.

I posted it in my journal at DA I'm sure I'll get some flaming bags of poo there... but hey... it's happening too much, I'm only voicing what I know alot of people are thinking.

Cafepress Store update...

I just added a bunch of my little witchy girl products to my 'All Hallow's Eve' shop.
here are just a few of the things that have been added:

Last night, while I was trying to fall asleep... my brain was working overtime trying to come up with a good design for my WoW fan art... and since my druid was my very first character, and I just love playing in catform... I drew this while watching AVP. I think it has some potential...

Yes, I'm a WoW junkie... so are many other's you wouldn't have thought are... I confest to having a lvl 56 hunter, a lvl 44 druid and lvl 45 rogue.
