ebay... NEVER AGAIN.

this last auction just proved one thing to me.

utter waste of my time and money.

The Arwen portrait will not be listed, nor will any of my other Lord of the Rings Masterpieces Cards, sketches or Original Artwork. I refuse to waste anymore time or money on that dead end money sink site.

Original artwork will be available ONLY through my website (after it's up) or at the shows.

at work...

This was my desk as of 730p last last night... was just finishing up the last of the poster cards.

I think it's about time to save up for a new desk lamp, I've had my eye on one of those Daylight lamps from DickBlick.com... After all, the lamp (not the bulb) is +20 years old. >.> littered on my desk as you can see, for markers, I use (in order of preference) Tria, Copic & Prismacolor. (plus the myriad of other pens, & pencils that populate my workspace) Anyway, before I can start on my next project, there are a few sketch card commissions to get out of the way, then it's on to the Wizard of Oz cards.

After the holiday, I'm going to list on 'evilbay' an 11x14 portrait of Arwen (on that brown papers I'm so uber fond of) that I'm putting the finishing touches on. I'm going to wait till after the holiday because... anything I list now will end on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day... >.> Tho... I may wait till Wednesday/Thursday so that it ends the day after Christmas or so. I just hate wasting money on ebay for stuff to not sell...

and... Cards have been sent out, so hopefully everyone will get their before Christmas...

Christmas Stuffs @ Cafepress

Well, it seems those Christmas dragons that I can see oh so clearly in my head just absolutely refuse to make their selves appear on paper... nope, not at all... so, IF by chance I can sneak up on them and draw them while they are not paying attention, I may have some jingle dragons before Christmas, but doubtfully.

Instead I bring to you one of Santa's Workshop Helpers, she's making sure there will be enough snow on Christmas Eve for Santa to deliver his gifts to the children of the world.

I have: shirts, cards and an ornament with her on it. Also I had worked one of my other Christmas images because it just wasn't sitting well with me. Her name is Hollie... (as seen on the card below)

and don't forget the sale on my prints will end Dec 31, 2006, after that they will go back to their regular price, and the only way you'll get my prints at my sale prices is to visit me at one of my shows.

Happy Holidays!

Another Store Update!

with the addition of Lament to my cafepress, I decided to have a Christmas sale on my prints...

11x17 Prints - Regular Price: :: 19.99   Sale Price 14.99
22x28 Prints - Regular Price: :: 29.99   Sale Price 24.99

sale ends 12.31.2006

Store Update

Scanning Lament was easier than I thought it would be, 6 passes and they all lined up properly... (which saved me 30.00 and risking it with the fumbley fingered people at Kinko's.)

She's now available as a 22x28 print: http://www.cafepress.com/cp/prod.aspx?p=voronde.92207533

I still need to figure out what to do to make her 11x17 >.> also I should have shirts and a few other things up by the end of the day.

Just a little something I've been doodling on for the past month or so...
Honestly, I'm not really sure how the finished work will be... I'm thinking graphite, but then again it could be painted. I'm just not sure yet.

Original Artwork for Sale

I'm tired of ebay... I'm tired of their price hikes on listings and I refuse to give them anymore money.

Until I get my website done, I've created an entry at my personal livejournal to act as my original artwork sales page. ---> Click HERE

IF you are interested and you don't have a livejournal and cannot post a reply, please email me at voronde[at]comcast[dot]net.

Jadis fan art sketch

For those of you who don't know... she was the White witch, self proclaimed Queen of Naria from "The Chronicles of Naria: The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe"

I know she was the bad guy... er... witch, but you can't deny her costume was hellacool.

just a sketch at this point, no real plans for anything further.

What can I say? besides I still need to unpack, It was the most exciting show I've done, and I think the most work, so far. I made a lot of really important contacts, I met so many wonderful people, I spoke briefly to Todd, he was super busy, so I should be hearing from him either today or tomorrow. I got a wonderful response to my work, more so than at any comic con, or craft show I've done. I really really liked how the Art Show was set up, we didn't have to bring any easels, they provided 'pro boards' were looked like carpeted partitions that you just put curtain hooks into to hang your work. verranice. I was located just within stale marshmallow shooting distance from the pirates... fun =) There were so many great costumes too! I met the lovely and talented Laura Pelick of Fallenlight.net, I guess in my flurry of getting ready I completely missed any indicators she was going to be there. It was such a lovely time! I bought some awsome quality elf ears... I'm telling you if you want realistic elf ears, these are the ones! They are flesh colored silicone, with fine red threads mixed in to simulate capilaries. Once they are they stay one for about two-three days - even thru showering and sleeping. I just looked on their website and they are not listed, it might be a con only type of thing... not sure. I'll take pictures later.

Since doing this show was on such short notice, it had to be done on a shoe string budget. IF you ever have to stay overnight in Indianapolis stay very far away from the Motel 8 out on Southport road. Just take my advice on this one. =)

I think the most fun came on Sunday night... (I almost forgot, as Pat and I were making our way to meet the rest of the group at the restaurant, we ran into Steve from Ghosthunters, we chatted with him for a bit, he's also managed thru Todd's firm.) besides Pat and Myself, the group was: Nigel, Brian, Amul, Blue, Dave, I'm not really sure who else but, I should have pictures later of that. We decided to have dinner at a place called 'the old spaghetti factory'. it started off in the bar upstairs and moved to the table, as it seemed, our own room at the restaurant. I started a drawing on a napkin in crayon, and passed it along... we all decided that it should go up on ebay as a charity auction. I'll scan it here in a bit... (along with the paper placemat drawings Nigel and Brian did).

an now on to the pictures I took... I will be either snagging pics from other's who took pictures or I'll be posting links. =)

It may not be a great work of art, but it was hellafun. I started off in blue, and the rules were to build on what the previous artist did, after it got back to the first artist, the color was then green, then on to red. (we were kinda limited to the crayola colors the restaurant had.) After it was finished, we all signed it, and decided to put it up on ebay, with all the proceeds going to charity. BUT first I have to get pictures from Amul, of us working on it.

A Hidden Gem

I would like to take this opportunity to plug my friend Bill's works. His book is called 'Wha', it's witty and full of parody's. Lucious & Walter are just adorable. I haven't had a chance to read 'Expendable Teens' yet, he's told me all about it, I bet it's just as great as 'Wha'.

so please... check out his stuff, and buy something.

>> Inkslinger Merchandise: "Wha" past issues & buttons

>> The Inkslinger @ Cafepress
bookmark this one, there is more great merchandise in the works.

>> Expendable Teens @ Cafepress

or you can commission him for an awsome rockhead of your choice or he can draw you as a rock head. =)

So check out his site and his wares, you won't be disappointed.

6 days

count them, only 6 days left till Wizard World Chicago is upon us.
that means only 5 more days for me to get my stuffs finished.

Last night I got all 6 of my Mini's/ACEO's painted.
here's a sneak peek...

still left to do:
refinish frames, cut mats, get 11x17 print ordered.
I'm really hoping to get it all done this year in time to actually get to preview night early enough to set up.

IF there's time I have some other works I'd really like to have done for the show.

Celestial Fire Dragon

I swore that this year for Wizard World it'd be done and I'd have a shirt to wear (like I promised myself last year and the year before apparently) it's... Done!!! =) You can see the final pencils (before I began painting it: HERE... DAMN, I JUST realized that this painting has taken me almost exactly 2 years to complete. Hows that for dragging ones feet ona project?

I know the name is kinda lame, but I really couldn't think of anything catchy or significant... I was thinking Qin, as in the first chinese dynasty, and how they believed that the emperors were directly related to dragons, but that seemed like a lame name too. Renamed to Celestial Fire after looking at my original DA entry I completely forgot what I had kinda called it, and with the colors I went with it, I think it's fitting.

11x17 : $18.00
8.5x11: $15.00
22x28 : $29.99

now off to work on my entry for the Blizzard Fan Art Contest
I'm thinking of reworking this one to submit.

Why I Watermark...

Back sometime in 2004 or as early as 2003 my entire deviantArt gallery was ripped off, tubed and redistributed to the tagging community. I used to watermark small because I didn't want to obstruct my work, but clearly that didn't deter them from easily removing my watermark and any trace of my signature. I found my images everywhere, even IMVU where people were making money off of my artwork without my permission. Meanwhile my online went straight into the toilet.

So before you whine about watermarks, just remember even though YOU may not be an art thief, there are PLENTY out there that don't care about copyright and will use ANY work they steal for their own means.

If you don't watermark, you are only setting yourself up for thieves to take advantage of your gallery. Once it happens to you, you'll change your mind about watermarks.

Wizard World Info, Chicagoland Z & Art Post Request

I just found out my artist alley table number is 3129, you can take a gander at the map here. Last year and all of the previous years we've been able to specify who we wanted to be seated next to, not this year, I think this new person that's in charge is going to make a fisaco of it. Though, if table prices go as high as speculted for next year, this will be my last Wizard World, that is till AA prices come back down to a reasonable rate.

Hopefully in the next few weeks I'll have 2 more paintings finished (of a darker nature, since my two most recent were of elves and faeries).

On a more interesting note... remember that chicagoland Z show I did this past spring? I got a thing in the mail and they've expanded it back to a 3 day show at the Dupage Expo Center. =) so I now have a 3 day local show for November.

Over the weekend I had a request to post some of my older bloody vampire art... so here they are, these were all done from about 1992-1999:

another rip

it's been almost 3 years and I'm still finding these image all over the place...

I wish people would understand that if they did not draw it or if they didn't get the expressed permission from the person that did draw it it's not theirs to do as they please. It's amazing that there are THAT many people who have no regards to the work of others. They feel they can do as they wish with what ever it is they want.

Geneseo Music & Craft Festival

Most likely this will be the ONLY craft show I'll do again... I found out later on Saturday that Sturgis on the River in Davenport IA (which is really not far from Geneseo) is that same weekend and that they also come to see the craft show and the music festival. We had an awesome location, right near the center of the park, next to the band shell, and all of the food. Needless to say if I never smell funnel cakes, or kettle corn again I'll be happy.

Saturday was a bit slow, I wasn't sure if it was going to pan out, then right around 5pm we had a 15 min downpour... my worst fear of doing outdoor shows We hauled everything into the center of the tent... (I definitely need to look into getting the roll down tarps for my gazebo tent) Since it had rained it looked like the crowd drastically thinned out, so we decided to start packing up for the night (the show was officially over at 6, so we only packed up an hour early). We even took the tent down because the weather forecast called for some serious storms during the night, I wasn't sure if my little gazebo tent would hold up. Besides after the rain it got seriously hot and humid.

Sunday was a complete turn around from Sunday, I was busy from the time I got there (people were coming to the spot before we were even fully set up) till about an hour and a half after. The festival ended at 4 but we didn't start packing up till 530p. Just about everyone from Saturday that said that they were going to come back did... I was completely surprised by that. It was a really great festival, I met some really wonderful people and I definitely plan on going back next year. My booth got dubbed 'The Gothic Art Booth'. =) If you like, you can go here to read Vickie's blog entry about the festival. She and her family were at my booth they had bought quite a few prints but I really enjoyed talking to them. =) I'm really glad there are other's just as geeky as I am out there in the world.
